One thing missing in our library books by Francis Parkman are the footnotes. Anyone wishing to do in-depth research should seek out the many other locations that offer his well documented information sources. Although Theodore Roosevelt admired Francis Parkman and copied some of his methods TR thought footnotes were distracting and rarely offered footnotes to the history books he wrote. For sure Parkman’s footnotes would be distracting if placed in our audio book versions so I have opted to remove them.
