Book Description

Documents or Speeches from 1899 to1905 volume 1. No public servant has ever given his opinion so freely as you will see in these four volumes by Griffith. Theodore Roosevelt believed that the voters should know what they were voting for on Election Day. He would rather lose an election than have people vote for him under false pretenses. Plus he did one better than giving an opinion he believed what he said and acted upon what he said unless someone could give a rational reason why he was wrong. His mind was always open to the opposition’s point of view but it was very rare that someone could add to his well-reasoned positions. Be careful not to attribute current laws that may have been enacted by people that did not have the high standards of Theodore Roosevelt. As you read or listen to these volumes please note his ability to consider many points of view and his ability to assess harm that will be done if laws are not enacted in the best interest of all. It is very hard to find tax laws today that are fair. I say this, as I am about to invest my yearly month getting ready to pay taxes. Than I need to pay someone to file them another great deal of money. Somehow our public servants have determined that this is good for the economy because it creates jobs. But this is a subject that has yet to have a meaningful forum for adequate discussion.
